Frequently Asked Questions About Terrazzo Polishing

Call us

Can My Terrazzo Be Polished?
Yes, terrazzo can be polished! There are two main types of terrazzo: cementitious and epoxy, as well as terrazzo tile. All these types can be polished, although the polishing process may differ slightly for each. The result is always a smooth, shiny, and beautifully polished finish.
How Often Should Terrazzo Floors Be Polished?
The frequency of polishing depends on the level of use and foot traffic. For high-traffic areas, polishing every 6months to a year is recommended to maintain the surface’s beauty and protection. This applies to polished surfaces and differs from waxed floors or those treated with a topical sealer.
Can Cracks or Damage Be Repaired During Polishing?

Yes, minor cracks and surface imperfections can often be repaired as part of the polishing process. However, extensive damage may require additional restoration work.
Does Cementitious Terrazzo Need to Be Densified Before Polishing?

Yes, cementitious terrazzo must be densified before polishing. The densification process hardens the surface, ensuring that the polish lasts longer. Without densification, the polish will fade relatively quickly, leaving the surface less durable and less shiny.
Can Terrazzo Steps Be Repaired?
Absolutely! We use a specialized process to repair terrazzo steps and closely match their original appearance. This involves sourcing similar aggregates and customizing epoxy to match the existing terrazzo, ensuring a seamless and natural look.
Can Terrazzo Shower Pans Be Polished?
Yes, terrazzo shower pans can be polished, as long as they are not leaking. With our polishing process, even shower pans with 40–50 years of use and heavy wear can be restored to look almost brand new. The results are truly amazing, bringing life back to old and worn surfaces.
