Frequently Asked Questions About Concrete Polishing
Contact usIs polished concrete suitable for basements or homes?
Polished concrete floors offer a sleek, modern aesthetic that suits various design styles and adds a unique touch to any space. They are highly durable, withstand heavy foot traffic, and require minimal maintenance. Their moisture resistance makes them ideal for basements, preventing mold and mildew.
Additionally, they contribute to energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures. Overall, polished concrete floors are both functional and visually appealing, making them an excellent choice for homes.
What makes concrete look shiny?
The shine of polished concrete comes from two key factors: the mechanical polishing process, where the surface is smoothed to a fine 3000 grit, creating a reflective, mirror-like finish, and the application of a topical sealer, which adds depth, enhances gloss, and provides additional protection against stains and moisture.
What is the life expectancy of polished concrete?
The life expectancy of polished concrete depends on its usage, maintenance, and environment, but it is generally recognized for its exceptional durability and longevity, especially when compared to other flooring options, making it a popular choice for both commercial and residential applications.
Does polished concrete scratch easily?
While polished concrete can scratch under the right conditions, it is more scratch-resistant than many other flooring options, and its texture and appearance tend to hide scratches effectively. Regular maintenance and proper care can further minimize the chances of noticeable damage.
How easy is it to maintain polished concrete floors?
Maintaining polished concrete floors is simple in both commercial and residential settings. Regular dust mopping removes dirt and debris, preserving the shine. In commercial spaces, a floor scrubber with a pH-neutral cleaner may be used for deeper cleaning. Occasionally, re-polishing might be needed, especially in high-traffic areas.
Promptly cleaning spills helps prevent stains, and avoiding harsh chemicals ensures the floor remains in top condition. In residential homes, maintenance is as easy as regular dust mopping and wet mopping with a recommended cleaning solution when needed.
